I CAN HELP!

You CAN do it! "The Thumblady" can help!

Does your child's roof look like a thumb or a tongue? Take a look and see! A roof that is nice and roomy has lots of space for their new teeth to come in and their tongue to rest, swallow, and speak more clearly.

Thumbsucking is such a frustrating issue.

Your child may have tried EVERYTHING, but for whatever reason, they simply cannot stop.

Families need a plan and I'm here to help! I have used my positive and fun approach to oral habit elimination with over a thousand children with a variety of oral habits for almost 20 years.

When you know the time has come, and you just can't seem to navigate this next step successfully on your own, it is time to seek help from a professional. My pledge to you? I promise you I will help your child conquer their oral habit in a fun, positive, amazing way.

AS SEEN IN PEOPLE, SEVENTEEN, ENTREPRENEUR, HYGIENE TOWN, SCHOLASTIC, NEW YORK MAGAZINES, AND IN PAMELA PAUL'S BOOK ON OUTSOURCING, "PARENTING, INC."

SHARI ALSO IS AN APPROVED INSTRUCTOR FOR IAOM AND TRAINS PROFESSIONALS AND PARENTS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD.
Habits I work with include thumb sucking, nail biting, finger sucking, tongue thrusting, tongue sucking, pacifier sucking,
lip biting, lip licking, and finger, hand, and cuticle biting.
In addition to working with sucking and biting habits, Certified Orofacial Myologists are highly trained to work with individuals of all ages with poor tongue postures using specific orofacial myofunctional therapy exercises.

Even if a finger habit is long gone, an individual can continue to display poor oral muscle patterns their previous habit of sucking encouraged for years. This may warrant further evaluation by a COM.

95% of children over five with a sucking habit have what is called a "tongue thrust", or OMD (Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder). These OMD issues may ultimately lead to poor oral growth and development oncerns of the facial structure, nose, and the roof of the mouth.

Be sure to click on the Educational Info and FYI links to the left to learn more about this thumbsucking/tongue thrusting connection. There is a wealth of information within this website for professionals and parents to access so they may open a dialogue with their DDS and MD about oral habits.

Tongue Thrust is a common concern in most of my clients who have sucked a finger after 5. Does your child have a low or forward postured tongue?

The client pictured on the right was referred by their orthodontist for sucking elimination and tongue thrust therapy. Eliminating a digit sucking habit does not necessarily mean a tongue will behave. It often must be "taught" to behave with orofacial myo therapy!
